Serving the communities of Union City, Weehawken, West New York, Guttenberg, North Bergen, Jersey City Heights, Secaucus, West Hoboken & Union Hill in North Hudson County, NJ

The Bruce Walter Recreation Center is located adjacent to the Thomas Edison Elementary School at 507 West Street.

If you are not familiar with the area and are driving, we suggest using www.mapquest.com or http://maps.google.com for directions.

You may also wish to use http://www.mapmyrun.com- though it was intended for runners, it is also used by walkers and bikers to determine distances. It will give you a very good idea of the walking distance to the meeting site from different locations, such as bus stops and the Congress St. Light Rail Station.

There is limited parking adjacent to the recreation center, but please exercise caution as there are children playing. Parking is also available in front of the Edison school during the evenings when we meet.

Though the streets in Union City are essentially laid out in a grid pattern, there is no cross street between West St. and Central Avenue between 4th Street and 8th Street.

If you are taking Mass Transit and using any of the buses which run along Palisade, New York or Bergenline Avenues, you should exit at the stop closest to 5th Street and proceed due west. These buses are the #22, #22X, #84, #86, and #123 routes from NJ Transit and information about them may be viewed at http://www.njtransit.com/sf_bu_schedules.shtml

If you are taking a bus which runs along Kennedy Boulevard,or Summit Avenue, we suggest exiting at 8th Street and walking east. These buses are the #83, #85, #88, and #125 buses, also from NJ Transit with information available at http://www.njtransit.com/sf_bu_schedules.shtml

Please be aware that New Jersey Transit has been adjusting schedules and bus lines due to the recent expansion of light rail service in Hudson County. Please check the bus schedules and routes, for any late changes.

Union City is easily accessible via mass transit from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in midtown Manhattan (#123 serves Palisade Avenue and the #125 which runs along Kennedy Boulevard), the Journal Square Transportation Center (#83, #84, #88, and #125), the Hoboken Terminal (#22, #22X, and #85) with access to PATH commuter rail service to NYC, and NJ Transit rail service to points within NJ. In addition the bus lines noted above also serve a large portion of northern Hudson County.

The astute reader will have figured out by now that West Street is not really the western boundary of Union City, and in fact never was. If you want to know the answer to this puzzle, you'll just have to come to a meeting. :)
